Jonathan Voellmy (*1984 in Aarau) lives and works in Santander (ESP) and Basel (CH). His interdisciplinary work spans neo-expressionist painting, photography, video, installations, and scenography. In his works, Voellmy focuses on the intuitive exploration of form, material, and chance. Of interest are the openness as a procedural and mental state, as well as the aesthetic shifts in meaning of objects, tools, and techniques that come into his free play. The human life by and with the ocean is a central motif in his documentary photography and video installations.
